Perhaps unsurprisingly, Gaultier saw distinct similarities between creating a collection of clothing and a collection of wallpapers. “Completing a wardrobe or an interior space requires the same approach,” the designer said via press release. “Wallpaper is both traditional and innovative at the same time . . . . We know that [it has] the same level of craftsmanship as we have in our haute couture fashion!"
Jean-Paul Gaultier wallpapers were designed by the prolific fashion designer who has never been a fan of convention. While his fearless designs and aesthetic make perfect sense for high-fashion, you'd think they might be more challenging to translate into home decor. Gautier is always up for a challenge, and his line of couture wallpaper and fabric is proof. The range is equally as fun and experimental as Gautier's clothing designs because they're directly inspired by them.
