Frequently Asked Questions

When does my order ship?

Most stock orders for fabric and wallpaper ship within 12-72 hours after receipt of order directly from each brand. If an item is not in stock, we will advise you of the estimated ship date.  

Memo samples are usually mailed by USPS First Class and may take up to 10 business days to arrive.  They cannot be expedited.

Your credit card will be charged when your order is processed.

Inside Stores will notify all customers if a product is back-ordered and will only process the order upon approval by the customer of the back-order date. Because the order will ship directly from the manufacturer, Inside Stores will process your payment at the time your order is placed. Orders can be cancelled any time before shipment with a few exceptions. All Scalamandre, Maxwell & Pindler back-orders and all made to order specialty items cannot be cancelled once approved by the customer as a matter of the manufacturer's policy.

Stock

We ship directly from the manufacturers or the mill.  It is always best to check with us first to make sure the quantity you need is in stock.  We do not hold any stock or track stock on this website. If you would like to confirm the stock quantity, please call, email or use our live chat option.  We are always happy to check stock for you.

First Quality Merchandise guarantees that our clients are getting their new products directly from the manufacturers. All purchases are shipped to you or your workroom directly from each manufacturer. You are assured of first quality merchandise.  

Minimum Orders

Some brands may have minimum orders.  Beacon Hill, Schumacher and Scalamandre have two-yard minimums for fabric patterns.   Outlet items may have a 3 or 5 yard minimum depending on the item.   Phillip Jeffries, Innovations, Winfield Thybony and most wallpapers sold by the yard all have minimum order requirements.  Variations minimum orders varies depending on the item.  Please check with us if you have any questions.  

Cancellation

Our system is set up so orders ship as soon as possible. You may cancel your order if it has not shipped*. Generally, it is recommended that you cancel the order as soon as possible, as many items ship the same day.   Request must be sent in writing via email to customerservice@insidestores.com.   

Once the order ships, it cannot be returned for other reasons than manufacturer defect or shipping damage.  *Scalamandre, Pindler, made to order/request items and all pillows cannot be cancelled once the order is processed on our end.   For more information on our return policy, please refer to our return policy.

Occasionally, we might need to cancel your order for the following reasons:

  • Unauthorized credit card transaction
  • Item is no longer available or discontinued
  • Pricing discrepancy
  • Minimum Order discrepancy
  • If an order is cancelled, no charge will be applied to your credit card.

Return Policy

To keep our prices low and competitive, we regret that we cannot accept returns for other reasons than manufacturer defect or shipping damage. 

All our fabric and wallpaper items are cut to order for you and we regret that we are unable to accept returns.

We will accept returns due to manufacturer defects or shipping damage only. All returns require a return material authorization (RMA).  NO CLAIMS WILL BE ACCEPTED IF THE FABRIC OR WALLPAPER IS CUT OR HAVE BEEN ALTERED.  Please inspect all items before cutting or using.  No returns on items shipped outside the US. 

If you receive fabric or wallpaper that is defective, please email us or call us at 800-497-8042. We will issue a call ticket for the defective item and promptly ship out the replacement item. If stock is not available, you also have the option of getting a full refund.

First Time Orders

For your security, please be aware that first-time orders can only be shipped to the cardholder's billing address or a corporate work address which we are able to verify independently except for PO Boxes. To avoid delays to your order, please ensure that your billing address matches the address on your card statement, and that the cardholder's name is written as it appears on the card. Please also ensure that your contact details are filled in accurately, so that we can contact you if necessary.

What are the units of measurement?

Our fabrics and trims are sold by the yard. Tassels and tie backs are sold by each. Wallpapers are sold by the roll, the panel or by the yard.  Please refer to the individual product page to see the applicable unit of measure of your pattern.   

Are your items first quality?

Absolutely, we order fabric directly from the manufacturers and all fabric is first quality and authenticity is guaranteed.  We are an authorized dealer for all the brands listed on our web site.

Why should I order a sample?

Due to variances in monitors, the colors and patterns displayed may vary slightly from the actual product. Physical samples should be ordered prior to specifying. If you do not like the actual item when it arrives, it is not returnable.  Note that samples are randomly cut and dye lots are not guaranteed, they are only a representation of the actual fabric or wallpaper. Due to the high demand for samples.  Only 1 sample allowed per colorway.  15 samples maximum per order.

What is a cut of approval?

A cut of approval (CFA) is an actual cutting of material of your order. This option is recommended if you need to match a particular dye lot or if you want to see exactly what you'll be receiving.  Dye lots can vary from shipment to shipment, for this reason, we cannot guarantee an exact match to your sample book.  If a color match is critical, we suggest you order a CFA for fabrics.   Cutting for approvals are subject to each brand's approval and minimum order requirements.

It is required that you place an actual order so that we can reserve the required quantity. It is highly recommended that you call us to request a cutting for approval.  When ordering online, please put "CFA required" in the comment section of your order.  When we receive your order, we will reserve the quantity and send you a cutting of the reserved material. We will only ship the yardage once you approve it. 

There is no charge for the cut for approval service. Note that it will delay the shipment of your order for a few days due to processing time.

CFAs are only available on in stock items and subject to the brand's approval.

CFAs are not available on Clarke & Clarke items and items that ship from the mill. CFAs are not available on wallpapers except Phillip Jeffries' naturals.

Dye lot variations on natural fiber fabrics sand wallpapers such as fabrics with high percentage of cotton and linen or grass cloths/sisal wallpapers can vary greatly, and it is not considered a defect and subject to our return policy.

Swatches & Samples

Swatches are available to purchase for fabric, trims, and wallpapers on each pattern page.  Simply click on ORDER SAMPLE box on the product page.  Swatch sizes range from 4" x 4" to a full repeat.  They are cut randomly and ship from each brand.  We are unable to order swatches in specific sizes.  If you need a larger fabric sample, we recommend ordering a whole yard of fabric when allowed.  Only one sample per pattern can be ordered on one order. Any duplicates will be removed.  Samples are $5.00 each.  15 swatches per order allowed.

Pindler does not offer swatches for any items, outlet items and limited stock items may also have no samples available.  If a sample is not available at time of order, it will be removed and credited to your card.

IMPORTANT DELIVERY INFORMATION

We recommend that you consider the following information:

• You own the products once we have received payment in full and they have been delivered to you.

• We will be unable to redirect orders to a different address once items have been shipped.

• Our vendor's carriers do not deliver to P.O. Boxes or use General Delivery.

Do you collect sales tax?

We are in are required to collect sales tax for all shipments that have state sales tax.  

Why can't I see images online? 

Our product database includes the most popular fabric patterns along with their images. However, due to the sheer volume of fabric patterns available (currently there are over 250,000 patterns and colorways from our various vendors), our system might miss a few.  Our system works best if you know the vendor and the pattern that you want, and if you are looking for an online source for that pattern. 

Please also note that you can specify your order as a cut-for-approval (CFA), which means that we will send you a cutting of the fabric that has been reserved specifically for you. Once you approve the cutting, we will ship the order. While this delays your order a few days, it will ensure that you get the exact dye lot and fabric that you wanted. If you would like this option, please specify "CFA required" in the "comment" section of the checkout page.  CFA is not available on wallpapers.

Can you get discontinued fabric?

Our vendors frequently discontinue fabrics either to make room for new products or if the mill no longer produces the pattern.  We are unable to order discontinued patterns if the pattern is out of stock.

We regret that we cannot supply discontinued fabrics if there is no stock. If you know a pattern is discontinued, your best bet is to choose an alternative.

What if I can't see the pattern I'm looking for?

If you cannot locate the pattern needed, either it may be discontinued or is too new to be listed. In either case, please email us at sales@insidestores.com and we will be more than happy to assist you.  You can also search by clicking on the search icon and simply type in pattern name or number.   The search icon is a magnifying glass in the upper right corner.  

Wallpaper 

Wallpapers are sold by the roll, double roll* or yard.   Please read the description carefully to ensure you are ordering the correct amount.  We always recommend contacting a professional wallcovering installer before placing your order (see below to find a professional).   *Please note if an item sold by the double roll, it is for one roll that has the average dimensions of 21 inches wide and 33 feet in length approx., which means it contains two shorter rolls of 16.5 feet depending on the item. 

One of our most frequently asked questions is about how many rolls to order. We are happy to give you a general estimate.  However, we highly recommend asking a professional wallpaper installer who will assist in measuring your space and give you an accurate roll-count. US manufacturers ship in double rolls. 

We price US style double rolls by the double roll.   European manufactures usually ship long single roll (US double roll equivalent).  Phillip Jeffries, Winfield Thybony and some other brands have items priced by the yard.  Yardage wallpaper usually has specific minimums and increments. 

How do I measure?

Measure the height and width in feet of each wall you would like to cover. Provide all the wallpaper measurements including the length, width, horizontal and vertical repeats to your installer. Typically, you'll want to order 15-20% extra to account for waste.  Make sure your walls have been measured correctly and that you have enough to cover everything.   Wallpaper comes in dye lots; If you realize that you do not have enough, you may not be able to get more from the same lot, and it may be off in color from the rest.  The larger the pattern, the more additional paper you need to ensure repeat matching.  An experienced installer will know what to do.

How many square feet does a roll cover?  As a rule, the following usually holds true for standard sized wallpaper:

  • Double Roll: 56 square feet
  • Euro Roll: 56.38 square feet.
