Jack Lenor Larsen studied architecture and established his studio in New York, where he infused his passion into sourcing global inspiration and understanding both traditional and contemporary weaving techniques. In 1950 Jack started collaborating with very talented artists and designers including Anthony Ballatore, Sari Dienes, Timo Sarpaneva, and Yoshiko Kogo. By 1974 the brand’s fabrics were available through partners in 30 different countries. The brand’s collections of superb quality fabrics utilized soft and earthy tones to create designs that are inspired by ethnic cultures with patterns reminiscent of geometrics shapes and textured plains.
Larsen’s design studio finds inspiration from varied sources of traditional weaving around the world. The company’s modern collections include leathers, sheers, silks, trimmings, velvets, wallcoverings, and weaves. The company’s creations are always stunning and innovative, with an authentic graphic touch, thanks to his architectural background. The brand’s expansive catalog of designs is still well accepted in the interiors design community. The fabric collections are based in geometric patterns, and includes embroideries, sheers, and weaves made with the finest linen and silk. Wallpapers designed by Larse are very innovative featuring bold colorways and different textural effects.
